"Dukh Daroo Sukh Rog Paiya, Ja Sukh Taam Na Hoye”

This is a verse from our (Sikh) evening prayers “Rehraas Sahib”. Many of you may not know about it...The above verse says “Pain is the remedy and pleasure is a malady; as where there is pleasure, there is no desire for God”. This verse provides a brighter aspect of “dukh” (pain). It means - Suffering is a blessing in disguise. One's mind at once turns to God and seeks his grace. Misery comes to everyone. In adversity God is remembered the most.

In one of my earlier post I did mention about the life’s unpredictability… and it is what makes a life worth living...I would like to pen down some more thoughts on it…Well when do we find life to be unpredictable? Or when do we actually think over this “unpredictability of life”? Is it not only when we face the downside of life’s capricious nature...?

Well we believe it or not…the true fact is unpredictability works both way…Rarely do we say “Why me?” when we achieve something in life; or when the sun is shining on us…In fact we think that its because of our own sheer hard work and this is what we deserve...We accept our good fortune with grace and often take it for granted; as if we earned those blessings. But as soon as tide changes; we start to whimper and question the wisdom of the universe…

We keep asking why bad things happen to good people. There is no easy answer. We live in a broken world with broken people. Those who are hurting often hurt others, intentionally and unintentionally. So we are left with one option and that is to trust God to heal our wounds. Its only when life feels so random and crazy-making, we try to hold fast to that which does not change — God. We start remembering him and start praying to help us come out of this painful state… People calling themselves an “Atheist”; at once start believing in the existence of God…but then trusting God is not easy. It calls for honesty, forgiveness, time and an open mind.

What does God wants from us? Does he really need anything from us? All he needs from us is to remember him. Remember him during good and bad times… Not for his selfish needs. But for us…who forget that we are just the puppets whose strings are in the hands of God and it is his move that will be the “last and final” move. However hard we the puppets struggle to move the strings according to the direction we want to go. It’s his one move that would matter…

Yes, life is uncertain, but there is no need to be fearful or to go it alone. A constant companion and comforter is just a prayer away. In the best of times and the worst of times, God promises to be our rock in a weary land and a shelter in the time of storm.

Baba Nand Singh ji Maharaj said:
Main Tuhanoo Chhaddan Vaste Kuchh Nahin Kehnda.
Par Ik Cheese Hor Phar Lao. Guru Nanak Da Naam Te Bani.
Eh Paras Hai Te Sari Zindagi Nu Sona Bana De Ga.

Mahan Baba Ji did not ask anyone to leave anything. A daily routine schedule of 24 hours includes so many activities in every body's life. He advised one more activity to be included in that daily routine. And that was remembering him. If the holy name has the power of Paras (Magical Touchstone), it will convert the whole daily schedule, routine, and the whole life and living into gold. It will purify and spiritualize the whole daily routine.

Life is duality; we have to reach that God which is one and is reality. Therefore life should be “Sukh Vele Shukrana, Dukh Vele Ardaas, har Wele Simran.”
(We should always thank God during our good times. During our bad times; we should always pray to him to remove our pain and suffering. Most importantly we should every day remember him and enchant his name.)

SInKinG rElaTioN ~sHiP says to its CapTaiN...

Oh mY Captain!!

Maybe I wasn’t asking you to love me… Maybe I was asking you to understand because for so long I’ve been hurt and for so long you’ve ignored it.

Maybe it’s bad timing, but maybe I don’t care. I’ve been here all along just waiting, waiting for you to notice, waiting for you to care, waiting for you to say that you’ve been waiting too, and you haven’t, and maybe you never will, or maybe you’re too afraid to.

But it hurts the same. And in the end, I’m the one that’s left broken and when I lay down to death, I’m the one crying…

I would not be sinking; had you known the responsibilities that come along with the role of a CapTaiN…

I would have reached the destination; if you had some patience and the attitude and perseverance to accept the mistake and mend it…

May be a little late; but on reaching the destination; the joy, happiness and celebration with the closed ones; would have made everything worthwhile…

Alas!! Sinking is my fate!!

It is easy to call oneself the Captain of a reLaTioN~sHiP...but then it calls for a lot of responsibilities too…Once you come in terms with being the captain you must follow through. Without you, the ship will go off track and end up lost. It is your ultimate duty to steer that ship rain or shine…

Time waits for none but love waits forever...

I thought crisis is the time when people stay united and fight back…I never knew crisis can make people apart...

There is a common believe that time does not wait for anyone... There is this saying “time and tide wait for none”... This is the reason why people say we should be utilizing the time to the fullest as we do not know what can happen next... They say life is unpredictable.

Yes “life is unpredictable” but then it may sound scary; the unpredictably of life is what makes life itself worth living. If you knew every move life was going to make in advance, what would be the point in staying in the game?

We see and hear so many advertisement saying “Life's unpredictable: You can’t plan for the unexpected things in life, but you can get health insurance”. Similarly I feel a relationship also needs insurance rather assurance – assurance that during thick and thin people will always be together... When the time or tide is not favorable for one,the other one should not move on with that time and tide. Instead wait and provide more support to make the other believe that no matter even if time doesn’t wait; they would always be there for them. The love of theirs would always wait forever…

When something good happen to us or there are moments that we cherish; we do say “wish this time never changes or remains still”. The deep meaning of it would be -- we don’t want the person to change and would want them to remain the way they are, so that we keep having such moments again and again. Time as usual would move on but if people don’t change then we can always make 'our time' with a fresh new start. Time is nothing; the desire to love is everything.

There are many lessons in life that only time can teach us, like how much we love someone. It's nearly impossible to know that, until we spend our days without them. And then there are those lessons that we can learn only through the beating of our heart, and through feeling such strong emotions that we can barely breathe. Then finally, when the essence of time and the power of our heart crosses paths, the only knowledge we are left with is the realization that love eventually grows if we allow time to play its part.

"There is only one thing that lasts longer than time, and that is true love."

“Love is I know not what, which comes from I know not where and finishes I know not how.”

No not again!! ” Why do people keep writing about this so called “Love”? May be this would be the first reaction of people reading the subject line. But then deep in our hearts we still crave to read and know more about this feeling. This is because “love” is a summation of all the emotions of life. As they say the color “white” is formed by mixing all the colors of rainbow…The purest and the color of divine. Similarly it is through Love we experience all the emotion of life. .However it may not be pure after all we are Human and then it’s the “human love"

Most of the people would agree with the subject line. Whether they are in love or they are not. . No one can actually define it; but we still keep trying to find out “what is love?” or to that matter” what is true love?” Even I would like to try my hands on to share some of my thoughts on Love...

So here it goes…………

One has just met somebody, and is with them, the love is flowing beautifully, and everything is wonderful. We feel as if an angel from heaven has come to minister to us particularly. We don’t know what to make of this feeling – feeling which has steadily increased with its intensity…it is like sitting on the side of a fence and watching ourselves…yet we are powerless to stop any of our actions…an awareness has arisen…with this a longing…a desire…and a sweet pain ensues…the feeling is not bad…it is constant…

We go all the way to do things to become a part of that somebody’s life. The whole process makes us feel happy and excited. There is nothing else in mind; no other thought as who feels what; all that matter is to experience that unknown feeling again and again…may be love?

The original love of two people — is as beautiful as any saint's love, in the beginning. . The so called “altruistic love “ .. What is it that we love in another person when we meet them? We love something that's unnamable in them, and when we first meet them we actually rise in love (and not fall in love – that’s important)

Then gradually the love gets trampled in the undergrowth of the emotions and tensions of living. Things which were being done initially to get the love were getting lost. The two of us gradually start taking each other for granted; then there are lies and hidden facts that are factor of ruining a relation.

All at once one of us do something — — we rub the other person the wrong way or we rub their ego, and that love begins to cease to flow so beautifully after a time. Is it not so? The frailties of man, his ego, get in the way, and both of us rub each other's egos. And after a while, instead of loving, we are quarreling.

The love within never decreases or diminishes. I repeat: the love within us never decreases or diminishes. Rather, the situation of what we term human love very often brings out the selfishness, the desires, the pettiness, the frustrations, and sometimes even the hate, envy, anger and jealousy. All these are generated from the ego being curbed by another's ego.

What are we really wanting is an object to love, a person to love. Are we wishing to love them unconditionally or conditionally? Not so easy, you say. No, not so easy. We have to train ourselves to open our heart so it will love. If it were so easy to unconditionally love, then there would be no change when conditions change. No, most people are looking to receive, and when the other person changes from a sweet, loving person — a near-saint as we saw it in the beginning when God sprinkled that gold dust in our eyes, an angel from heaven, as the songs say, that came to minister to us and to help our life — when they change into a human being in our eyes, a human with the same frailties as ourselves, we wilt in disappointment. If we had truly loved, it would not change with a changing of the winds. Our love would flow with understanding of the other's needs: that they may need love more than we love.

May be for now I end here.. Though this is not an end as I believe if things don’t end with a positive note then the beginning of a new chapter of life will never be positive and would always have some negativity of the past.. May be right now I am not that positive enough to write any such thing..

So for now I would leave it as “to be continued-“

---- would come back to it with something more positive to end the topic…
